Golf & Culture Tour Draft Itinerary

WE HAVE TENTATIVLY SET THE ARRIVAL DATE FOR THIS EVENT TO BE SEPTEMBER 24, 2025 AND DEPARTURE ON OCTOBER 5, 2025.  THIS MEANS YOU'LL NEED TO LEAVE THE USA ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2025 ON AN OVERNIGHT FLIGHT, AND ARRIVE ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2025. 

WE ARE WORKING WITH A DESTINATION MANAGEMENT COMPANY (DMC) THAT IS SELECTING THE HOTEL, GOLF COURSES AND DINNER VENUES. THEY HAVE PROVIDED THE ITINERARY SHOWN AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

We are planning to explore three distinct regions of Portugal: Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve/Faro region (as shown at left), over the 12-day period.

1. Securing Accommodations:

   • With a projected sellout of 136 participants, we estimate the need for 103 rooms, a mix of queen beds and large twins to accommodate attendees rooming alone and/or couples as well as members having roommate.

   • Tom Alsop will do a site visit once the major pieces have been put into place by the DMC.

2. Golf Course Logistics:

   • During the site visit, Tom will inspect golf courses to ensure they can accommodate our group, including confirming the availability of sufficient motorized golf carts to allow for shotgun starts.

3. Transportation Coordination:

   • Tom will have meetings with transportation companies to finalize logistics for daily transfers, including:

     • Airport to hotel and return

     • Hotel to golf courses and return

     • Hotel to group dining venues and return

   • The DMC along with transportation providers will also assist in planning optional excursion activities on non-golf days.

4. Destination Management Company (DMC):

   • We are engaging a DMC to support the planning and execution of this trip. Their staff will be available for us on various days. Our DMC is a very reputable company headed-up by a former president of the Lisbon Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

5. Site Visit Details:

   • Tom will travel to Portugal once the big pieces are in place for final review, likely in May, 2025, to finalize arrangements with key partners, including:

     • 3 hotels

     • 4 golf courses

     • 12 restaurants

     • Transportation and luggage truck companies

   • This site visit will consist of approximately 22 meetings over a 6-8-day period.

6. Website Launch and Deposits:

   • Following the site visit, a dedicated website will be developed to provide complete trip details, including itinerary, costs, and booking information.

   • To determine the actual number of attendees and the number of rooms we need to book, we will require a deposit as follows:

     • $198 per person for those sharing a room

     • $396 per person for those requesting single occupancy

Deposit Policy: If, for any reason, you decide not to participate in the trip:

• For a $198 deposit: This will be converted into two years of ASGA membership.

• For a $396 deposit: $198 will be converted into two years of ASGA membership, and the remaining $198 will be refunded to you upon notification of your cancellation.

Deposits are essential as they demonstrate serious intent to attend. Each $198 deposit accounts for half a room each night, and each $396 deposit accounts for a full room each night. This information allows us to provide hotels with an accurate room count, enabling us to sign contracts and finalize other trip logistics, such as dining and golfing arrangements.

Important Notes:

• We firmly believe our travel dates of Sept. 24 - Oct. 5, 2025 are close to being set in stone, however, we continue to say "tentative itinerary," just in case something were to happen. Once the final website is up and running, with prices posted, we'll remove the term "tentative" as all things will be (or should be) set in stone. It's obviously necessary that all elements to the itinerary are well-connected to the previous and next days' itineraries.

• Airfare is not included and will be the responsibility of each participant.

• Group Transportation will be provided from the airport to the hotel and at the end of the event, from the hotel to the airport.

• The DMC has suggest we make June 1, 2025 the date for final payment.

This event is limited to 136 players and have 131 signed-up and paid a deposit. If we exceed 136 and if you're interested, simply send an email to Info@SinglesGolf.com and ask to be placed on the Waiting List. We will publish your name on this site as being on the wait list. No deposit is required to be on the wait list. Generally, we know that once the final website is done and is priced-out, some members may drop out.

Note: We are aware that potential attendees to this event want pricing. We have many of the major pieces in place, however, we're not comfortable putting a price on this event until we're very near completing the itinerary. We know many of you may have other plans around the same time period. So please be patient and give us 2-3 more weeks or by 5/15/25 to 5/22/25 to get a final price to you.
