QUICK NOTICE: We likely have your cell number as part of your membership application, or, if we don't, we need you to give us your cell number when signing-up for this event. We use a service called SimpleTexting.com to send out SMS text messages to our attendees at all multi-chapter events such as this one. We have to have this service in case an impotant notice needs to go out. It would be rare that in a weeks' time we'd send more than 4-5 text messages to you, if that. Please remember to submit your cell number when registering for this event. Thank you!

About Cabo and The Trip

(edited from Wikipedia) Cabo has been rated as one of Mexico's TOP FIVE tourist destinations; it is known for its beaches, scuba diving locations, seaside resorts, the sea arch Arco de Cabo San Lucas, and marine life. The Los Cabos Corridor has become a popular vacation destination for tourists, with numerous resorts along the coast between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Cabo houses a range of wildlife, including rays, sharks, birds, and a range of fish, such as mahi-mahi, and striped marlin. In the winter, pods of whales can be observed in the area. They bear their calves in the warm waters of the Gulf of California after completing their 6000-mile migration from Alaska and Siberia.

Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo are served by Los Cabos International Airport. Clubs in Cabo include the Cabo Wabo Cantina, a nightclub owned by rock star Sammy Hagar, founded originally by him and other members of Van Halen, named after their hit single Cabo Wabo. There is also the Baja Brewing Company, Pink Kitty Nightclub, Mandala, El Squid Roe, Giggling Marlin, Nowhere Bar, Tiki Bar, the Usual Suspects and the Jungle Bar. Restaurants in downtown Cabo include Edith's, Hacienda Cocina y Cantina, Sunset da Mona Lisa and The Office, a lively outdoor restaurant where tables and chairs sit on the sandy beach. Tourists can also ride horses through the desert, charter a boat for fishing, snorkel, and parasail on the beach. The English-language newspaper for Cabo San Lucas, the biweekly "Gringo Gazette", has news on tourist activities in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose.

PLEASE CHECK BACK TO THIS WEBSITE ON A REGULAR BASIS to review any changes. We will not be sending emails out each time there is a minor change. Before You Travel . . . Before You Sign-Up . . .

There are always risks involved with travel, both in the U. S. and internationally.  This website is about a group traveling to the Republic of Mexico between October 20 and October 27, 2024.  Some attendees may wish to extend their trip, adding days before or after.  In any case, we ask that you visit http://travel.state.gov and specifically the section dealing with Mexico prior to making plans or departing.  You must have a current passport in order to enter Mexico. If you drive, a U.S. driver's license is acceptable. At the .gov site above, you'll see information about pre-trip planning and other very important items.

The American Singles Golf Association (ASGA) is known for its top quality international trips.  For most members, these are a trip of a lifetime and as such, we don't cut corners. We always book 4- or 5-star hotels, play some of the most beautiful courses ever, enjoy great meals and make friends that hopefully will become lifelong friends.

HOTEL ROOMS & ROOMMATES:  You can register at any time, however, when we fill-up our block of rooms, we may not be able to get additional rooms because the public will be reserving rooms as well. So please don't assume you can wait until the last minute to register. Register right away and if you know you'll have a roommate, it helps if both of you register around the same day.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you are the last person to register for this event and we don't have a roommate for you, you will have to pay the "room-by-myself" package, so REGISTER EARLY to keep from being the last to register!

Who's Coming: In April, 2019, we had 72 members attend this event. In September, 2021, 76 attended. As members sign-up, their names will be posted on the Who's Coming page (see left green tab) and updated weekly. Some names may not be posted as you have the right to request your name not be posted.

Based on our past history of international travel with this size group, 58% roomed by themselves and 42% of our attendees had a roommate. So when we reserve rooms for this trip, we use that formula so the hotel knows to provide an ample number of rooms with two beds and rooms with king/queen beds. Under our group contract with the hotel we'll utilize, we have what are called "ROH" or "Run of House" rooms which means the hotel can put our attendees in any of their rooms in the hotel.  We do that to get our best rates which hopefully gets our largest attendance.  On this trip, all attendees will have ocean* view rooms. Ocean* front rooms are available at an additional charge. Inquire with ASGA.

Airfare is NOT INCLUDED in any package.  See the "Getting There" tab at left for sample airline rates.

* we say "ocean," however, it is technically the Sea of Cortés but you can't tell the difference!

Chat with Others

We used to call this page the FORUM page but it's essentially a place where attendees can post questions, offer to be a roommate, or announce that you're looking for a roommate, etc.  Motorcoach transportation will be provided for our group travel to the courses and a half-day trip into Cabo San Lucas. Just click on the link below and post something . . . then keep checking back to see if you have an answer.

Golf

Our three package courses are through Questro Golf.  We will play golf on Monday (Oct. 21), Wednesday (Oct. 23) and Friday (Oct. 25) per below. For a short YouTube video on Questro Golf - click here.

PAR 3's and MULLIGANS

Before we go on, note that we will not have team competitions or prizes. The only competition we will have will be on some or all par 3s and our goal is to have the winner of that contest win "up to" $50.00. We will use the money raised by mulligans toward cash proximity winnings. So if you win, you will have a credit on your account that can be used for any ASGA National purchase, e.g. towards your next ASGA-sponsored event, a logo'd golf shirt or towards your membership dues.

The new rule on proximity competition is, if you purchased mulligans, you can use no more than one (1) of your mulligans on the closest-to-pin (proximity) competition. However, if you use a mulligan on a par 3, it is a MUST USE mulligan, in other words, you must use the mulligan, not your first shot. Hopefully, it will be better.

The Courses We'll Play & Tee Boxes*

* There is a change on one of the courses we would have played. As shown in light gray below, Puerto Los Cabos was supposed to be the course we played on Friday, October 25. Realizing that they could only allow us to play with consecutive tee times, it would take an extra three (3) hours for our group to get on and off the course that day. As a result, we have booked a shotgun start at Solmar Golf Links at 1pm on the same day, October 25. In addition to the golf, Solmar's green fee includes food and beverage (alcoholic & non-alcoholic). It comes in at exactly the same price we would have paid a Puerto Los Cabos. Even though we're doing a 1pm shotgun, our contract with them says that "upon arrival, breakfast at the clubhouse includes burritos, coffee, hand fruit, muffins, sodas, waters, beer & Bloody Mary's from the snack bar." And "during the round players have access to the comfort stations which incllude tamales, hot dogs, sandwiches, fruit, peanuts, pretzels and beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)." Club rentals are $79 at this course.

  • Club Campestre (San Jose) - Monday, Oct. 21. 1pm shotgun. Men play from white tees, 5,672 yards, women play from the Red tees, 4,957 yards. Scorecard

  • Cabo Real - Wednesday, Oct. 23. 1pm shotgun. Men play from white tees, 5711 yards, women play from the Red tees, 4,947 yards.  Scorecard    ("Real" is pronounced "Ree-al")
  • Puerto Los Cabos* - Friday, Oct. 25.  Split-tee times for 72 players starting at noon.  Men play from Silver tees, 6010 yards, women play from Dark Red tees, 5121 yards. Scorecard  Play at this course has been changed to Solmar (below).

  • Solmar Golf Links** - Friday, October 25. 1pm shotgun.

* Note that ASGA has the right to make a change on any item on our trip under the set terms outlined in the Terms and Conditions link on the left. It's listed as #3 on that list.

** Food and drinks included during this round at the comfort stations

We are under contract to have shotgun starts at Club Campestre GC and Cabo Real GC, however, at Puerto Los Cabos, we'll have straight tee times starting two groups at noon on separate nines.  Shotgun starts work best with large groups primarily because of the transportation situation. For golf newbies, a shotgun start means we all start at one time on different holes and we all end, generally, at one time. No need to bring your shotgun to start the round or to get married.

Golf Play Format.   We'll play USGA Rules of Golf (play your own ball, not someone else's!) so please "brush-up" on the USGA Rules of Golf

Prizes.   We've done away with team prizes for this and all future multi-chapter events sponsored by ASGA. However, we will have proximity competitions on all par 3's and the winner will receive a $50.00 credit on their account at ASGA HQ good towards your dues renewal, any upcoming ASGA-sponsored event, or two ASGA-logo'd shirts of your choice/size including postage.

We will not be asking for handicaps since there are no team competitions and scorecards will therefore not be dotted. Winners will be announced at our final dinner.

At any time you can contact the office at info@SinglesGolf.com and ask how much you have on file as a credit.

Caddies and Golf Carts.  Caddies are very rare in Mexico but if you're interested, continue reading.  Golf carts are included each day.

The cost for the caddies is $100 for a single or twosome or $150 for a threesome or foursome (gratuities not included). Reservation is required at least 48 hours prior and will be confirmed based on availability.

The best scenario is request who you'd like to play with, i.e. your twosome, threesome or foursome prior to registering for the event, then indicate such on the event registration form with a note that you plan to arrange for a forecaddie. One person in your group must then email Jazmin Sandoval (JSandoval@QuestroGolf.com) prior to your visit to arrange for the fore-caddie indicating what you need, e.g. one caddie or two. This way, everyone can pay their share of the fore-caddie cost once you get to the course.

Golf Club MovementWe have arranged for the motorcoach company to carry your clubs to the courses in the storage area under the coach. You will also be on the coach. You will need to stay with your clubs to make sure they are loaded and unloaded at each time they are loaded and unloaded. We suggest you keep the lid or cover attached to your bag so that balls and clubs don't come flying out of your bag during transportation.

Each day, bring your golf clubs to the front of the hotel lobby and be there while your clubs are being loaded into the motor coach. After your round, bring your clubs to the motor coach where personnel will load your clubs. Please do not leave your clubs on your cart at the end of each round.  In the end, every member is responsible for the safe-keeping of their own equipment.  Make sure you do not leave valuables, memorabilia, etc. in your golf bag and make sure you understand where your clubs will be returned to if you are renting clubs.

Golf Club Rentals and ShipSticks

Past ASGA multi-chapter trips have shown that 25-30% of our group prefer to rent clubs while on major trips.

You have the choice of 1) renting clubs at the courses each day, 2) taking your clubs on the plane with you or 3) using a service like ShipSticks.com.

If you rent clubs, you'll pay $195 for three rounds at our Questro courses, $65 as a separate charge at each course. To reserve clubs, email Questro Golf at groups@questrogolf.com

We've secured a discount with ShipSticks which should be shipped directly to the location of our first round of golf . . . Club Campestre (Phone +52 624-172-6500 or email Pro@ClubCampestreSanJose). ShipSticks is giving ASGA members a discount.  Click here.

Check with your airline on the cost to bring your clubs with you on the plane. Sometimes first class ticket holders will get them shipped free.

Note:  ASGA assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged golf clubs, bags or content in golf bags, rentals or your own.

Getting to Cabo

It's hard to imagine getting to Cabo by any other method than an airplane!  Here are some suggested airlines that fly to Los Cabo International (airport code SJD):

American Airlines

Delta Airlines

Southwest Airlines

United Airlines

Passport and Travel Tips

Have you checked the expiration date of your passport?  You'll need a passport but the "good for six months" is not a requirement in Mexico, just that your passport is good the day you travel to Mexico.

Take this S.T.E.P.

Many people like to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program with the U. S. State Department just to let them know that you are in another country.  To do so, go here.

Packing Light

Check out this website on how to save on packing luggage.

What are the Germiest Spots in the Airport?

ASGA Transportation & Airport Shuttle to Hotel

Please understand that transportation between all courses and our half-day in Cabo is "group transportation," or a motorcoach.

At the Airport.  Cabo has a small airport. When you clear customs and get your luggage, you'll want to follow the signs to shuttles.

A variety of shuttle companies:  Check out these shuttle services that will give you an instant quote from the airport to the Paradisus hotel, which is about 20-25 minutes from the airport:  www.SinglesGolf.com/cabo-shuttle   Note that if you have golf clubs, you may pay a bit extra for the additional baggage. Inquire what that cost would be with the shuttle service you select. You can purchase a one-way shuttle or round-trip. Have your airline information in front of you as you'll need it to book the shuttle.

Car Rental - Personally, I've (Tom) found that if you rent a car, it'll likely stay parked all week. You can catch a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and you'll have transportation the days you play golf (except the Thursday, optional round) as well as the dinner at The Office on Thursday night.

But if you do rent a car at the Cabo airport, there are a number of car rental agencies. Prices have gone up everywhere so check your online rates and maybe book with a friend.

There is no cost for valet or self-parking at the Paradisus.

Cost

NOTE:  The PDF registration form, accessible by clicking here, contains more information that you might see on this website, www.SinglesGolf.com/cabo. Please review that information prior to signing-up.

The cost on this trip is much higher than the cost for our 2019 and 2021 trips to Cabo where 72-76 members attended when purchasing the all-inclusive package. There is a greater demand worldwide for travel added by increased inflation. However, as is the case, having a large group allows us to receive strong discounts compared to what the public pays.

First, a 10% NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT OR FULL PAYMENT IS REQUIRED. We will go under contract and we will be guaranting our room count at the Paradisus. By doing so, we'll know how many rooms to reserve. Whether you room alone or with someone, a deposit of ten percent (10%) of your total cost will get you registered and give us a count on how many rooms we need.

If you make full payment now (before 8/23/24, you'll receive 12 months of additional membership, a $99 value. If you don't make final payment now, you'll make it later and be able to deduct the deposit amount. We will confirm your numbers when your registration has been received.

Full payment is due from everyone 30-days before our arrival date, or September 20, 2024.

Airfare is not included to or from Cabo, nor any domestic portion of your travel. You just want to make sure you make it in time for our 6pm dinner Sunday night.

We suggest you purchase trip insurance.  See link at left.  If you do purchase trip insurance, you must do it within FIVE (5) DAYS of when you register and put down a deposit or pay in full for the event.

Cost Variables

  • You can room with the same person the entire trip or you can room by yourself (more expensive).
  • On October 24, you can hop on the bus and head to The Office on the Beach in Cabo San Lucas to include dinner on the beach with live entertainment from a great Mariachi band.
  • You can save 3% by paying by check vs. credit card. We like Zelle as there's no processing charge for you or us. USE OUR ZELLE ID OF 980-833-6450
  • Trip insurance is additional but may save you $$$ if you believe there may be some upcoming issues.

1. Credit Card or Debit Card Payments to ASGA.  Any credit or debit card payment to ASGA, before, during or after the event, will carry a 3% surcharge. You can also pay by Zelle, just USE OUR ZELLE ID OF 980-833-6450.

2. Exchange Rate.  Exchange rate does not come into consideration for this event as the hotel and golf courses eagerly accept the U. S. Dollar.

3. Itinerary Changes.  ASGA reserves the right to make changes in the itinerary as needed as long as the attendee receives the other item(s) with the same value.  In other words, if a golf course needs to be changed because we don't have the requisite number of players or if we have too many players, then a comparable course (dollar-wise) will be substituted.  If the alteration is major, such as deleting the number of days in the trip, you will have the option of accepting the alternative arrangements or receiving a full refund.  No refunds on golf if there is rain UNLESS the course is closed and the course provides a refund to us.

4. Airline Reimbursements.  ASGA shall never be responsible for reimbursing you for your airline and/or travel expenses in getting to or from this event.

5. Emergency Contacts.  ASGA asks that you provide to ASGA an emergency contact number in the instance you are personally injured, can't be found, or any other emergency situation at the time of registration.  By signing-up for this event, you release ASGA of any liability for any loss, damage or injury while partaking in this event, unless ASGA is found negligent in any manner.

According to the U. S. State Department's website, 911 is the number to call in Mexico if you have an emergency. In case of emergency, we will at our discretion offer advice, guidance and assistance.  By signing-up for this event, you permit ASGA to contact emergency contacts given to us in your regard.

6. Force Majeure.  ASGA accepts no responsibility for and shall not be liable in respect of loss or damage or changes caused by force majeure events such as strikes, riots, political unrest, war hostilities, or threat of war, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, fire, flood, weather problems or similar events beyond its control.

7. Website Description.  Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of descriptions and information. However, we are not always able to control all components of the arrangements and it is possible that an advertised facility may be withdrawn or changed, due to weather conditions, lack of demand or for maintenance, renovations etc. We will advise you if we become aware of a major change.

8. If You Have a non-ASGA-related Complaint.  Should you have any complaint not related to ASGA, you are urged to discuss it at the time with the airline, hotel, course or car rental company. If your complaint is not resolved or if you believe ASGA can assist you, please notify an ASGA representative as soon as possible and we'll do our best to assist you with your concern if it is within our ability.

9. Group Travel.  This event is considered group travel, meaning you enjoy the event as part of the overall group.  Our group may travel together, typically in a motorcoach at certain events. If you miss your group transportation on a given day, the group shall continue on its schedule without regard for your situation and it is up to you to find your way to meet up with the group ahead of you. Motorcoaches depart our various locations at stated times so make sure you're on the coach. We will wait no longer than ten (10) minutes for you on any motor coach departure. As the saying goes, "if you're on time, you're late!"

Please note that the group leader has reserved the front right two (2) seats on all motorcoaches we utilize each day.

ASGA is not responsible if you miss any group transportation, group events, golf, dinners, etc. and there shall be no price adjustment unless the fault lies with ASGA.

10. Food.  ASGA understands that some individuals have special dietary needs. Since all meals, except one (or two if you go to The Office on the Beach outdoor restaurant), will be in different restaurants and our group will scatter amongst all of the available restaurants.

Note that some restaurants at the Paradisus FILL UP FAST, especially the really nice ones, so you may need to make reservations 1-3 days in advance. BEST IDEA: If you're going to reserve a table for just you and your friend, why not make it a table for four or six? This give you an opportunity to meet other ASGA members!

Remember, it's not just our group in the hotel.

11. Golf Cancellation Due to Weather.  If the golf course closes due to weather, it's up to the course to determine if there is a refund, not ASGA. If the course is open and there is rain, there is probably no refund on golf fees. We'll be in the desert so that works in our favor, but be prepared to have rain gear, umbrella, etc. in your bag.

12. We have or collect your cell phone number and use a service called SimpleTexting.com to send out SMS text messages to our attendees at all multi-chapter events such as this one. We have to have this service in case an impotant notice needs to go out. It would be rare that in a weeks' time we'd send more than 4-5 text messages to you, if that.
