The Ritz-Carlton - Amelia Island, Florida

January 2 - 5, 2018

Hotel Address:  4750 Amelia Island Pkwy, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034

Hotel Phone:  904-277-1100       Hotel Website:  click here

Amelia Island, in Nassau County, Florida, is the southernmost of the Sea Islands, a chain of barrier islands stretching along the east coast of the United States from South Carolina to Florida. It is 13 miles long and approximately 4 miles wide at its widest point. The communities of Fernandina Beach and Amelia City are both located on the island.  The island was named for Princess Amelia, daughter of George II of Great Britain, and changed hands between colonial powers a number of times. It is claimed that eight flags have flown over Amelia Island: French, Spanish, British, Floridian/Patriot, Green Cross, Mexican, Confederate, and United States.
Getting There:  Amelia Island a mere 15 miles from Jacksonville International Airport (airport code is JAX). If driving, it is just a short drive off of I-95.
Need a Roommate?
We're a singles organization and many members would like to reduce their cost by rooming with a same-gendered fellow member.  So before or after you sign-up, you can use this website to find a roommate by going to our Event Forum page here.

Just One Lucky Winner!  Will it be you?

We will designate one (1) hole to be the "cash hole."

All mulligan money "pre-paid" via your registration form will be paid back to the winner of a pre-designated par 3 closest-to-pin. This hole will be announced in the Program and Pairings Guide you will receive prior to attending the event and/or at the event. So if $500 is pre-paid for mulligans, $500 will be given to the proximity winner of this contest at our final night's dinner.  ASGA National will make-up for any amounts collected less than $500 so the GUARANTEED AMOUNT TO BE WON will be at least $500.00.  Mulligans purchased at event do not count as pre-paid mulligans, only those who pay when registering and notated on your registration form.

This is a "reunion" event.  We generally hold two reunion events each year, allowing former members, married or not, to attend for only a 5% upcharge (New Year's and Memorial Day Weekend).  Otherwise, membership in the American Singles Golf Association is required.  You must be an ASGA member at the time of the event in order to attend.  To see when your dues expire go here.

The Packages - Room by yourself or Save $$ with a Roommate

This Multi-Chapter Golf Weekend includes:

  • 3 nights’ stay at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island - - - a 3-minute walk to the ocean
  • Welcoming cocktail upon arrival provided by the hotel (no drink ticket required).  Cocktail is "bartender's choice."
  • All rooms have coastline view.  Balconies for all attendees.
  • 2 rounds of golf (incl. cart, green fees, range balls, prizes for winners).  Click on GOLF TAB at left for details of courses.
  • Also includes: Welcome gift, welcome party on arrival Tuesday (cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres), dinner at course after our first package round of golf + final awards dinner
  • Reduced rate valet parking from $26+ tax to $15 inclusive of tax per day.  No self-parking at this resort hotel.
  • Resort service fee is OPTIONAL.  You will be asked at the front desk if you wish to pay for it.

We'll have TWO OPTIONAL ROUNDS of golf, day of arrival and day of departure.  See details under the GOLF TAB at left.

If you room with someone else, cost is $649 for the standard package.  If you room by yourself, cost is $$899 for the room-by-myself package.  All prices shown on this website include sales tax and service charges for dinners.

Every ASGA member is guaranteed a room with a coastline view and a balcony.  The rooms we are being assigned are an assortment of both King and Double/Double rooms.  Under our group contract with the hotel, we have what are called "ROH" or "Run of House" rooms which means the hotel can put our attendees in any of their rooms in the hotel. We do that to get our best rates which hopefully gets our largest attendance.

Airfare is NOT INCLUDED in any package.  If you're flying in, you'll likely fly into Jacksonville International (JAX), a 15-minute drive to the hotel.  If you don't want to rent a car, just take a taxi or Uber to the hotel and back.  (Note that it is easier to get an Uber ride TO the hotel than it is to get one BACK FROM the hotel due to the number of Uber riders in the hotel area, which might require more time to plan.)  Use the FORUM BUTTON at left to communicate with others attending this trip so you can possibly share a ride back to the airport.

More on getting from the airport(s) to the Resort under the "Getting There" link on the left.

Courses.  We will play our "competition" rounds at North Hampton Golf Club and The Golf Club of Amelia Island on per the times and schedule below.  Green fees, cart and range balls are included each day.  Eagles and birdies are not included, you'll have to earn them on your own.

Tee Boxes.   Men will generally play the tee boxes closest to 5,500 yards regardless of the "color" of the tee box.

Golf Play Format.   Play your own ball according to USGA Rules of Golf

GETTING TO THE COURSES:  Three of the four courses are within a 10-15 minute drive of the hotel.  The Golf Club of Amelia Island is out the front door of the hotel.  We'll have a "Need A Ride / Give A Ride" form at registration but it up to you to secure or share a ride to the courses if you don't have your own car.  The group leader (Tom) has a 6-passenger Yukon and will comp a ride if you comp a drink!  But he kids a lot!

Prizes and Scoring.  We'll have first and second place team prizes as well as proximity (closest to pin) prizes for both days.  So when submitting your registration, please make sure you provide an accurate handicap index or average golf score. Team prizes are based on the two (2) best net balls out of the foursome and closest-to-pin competitions. Winners will be announced at the final night's awards dinner. ASGA $25 Prize Certificates will be awarded to the winners. Certificates must be used by the date of expiry on the certificate.  We cannot replace lost certificates under any circumstance.

We will have one competition for $500.00 for closest-to-pin on a certain hole announced prior to the round of golf on the second day.  Every participant has a chance to win since the par 3 will be less than 130 yards for men.

Golf Club Storage.  Most likely, The Ritz-Carlton has golf club storage so check with the bell captain upon arrival.  This might prevent you from sleeping with your golf clubs!

Things to Do on Amelia Island

Parking Policy at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island - The hotel does not have self-parking.  All parking is valet and the public rate for valet parking is $26.00 per night + tax.  However, ASGA has negotiated a group rate of $15.00 per night (tax incl).  We were successful in negotiating a great room rate, however, the $15 daily parking rate is the best they can offer.
