It's that time in your life to do something different!  And cruising along historic European rivers certainly fits that desire for you.  Maybe you've visited Europe before or cruised the oceans blue, but there's simply nothing like a river cruise.

Peaceful and "less drama!"

Tauck . . . Our Selected River Cruise Company

The American Singles Golf Association (ASGA) is proud to be associated with Tauck*, a 92-year-old leader in the travel and tourism industry. In addition to receiving the 2016 "Best European River Cruise Line" by CruiseReport.com, Tauck has received numerous other awards over the years.  To view a list of awards Tauck has received over the most recent years, go here.

The Tauck company's Seine River Cruise is the best of the present and the past. Click here to see Tauck's video on this specific cruise.

* ASGA is proud to be associated with the Tauck Company.  ASGA does not control any aspect of the itinerary for this river cruise.  Please review Tauck's Terms and Conditions and ASGA's Terms and Conditions prior to signing-up.

Here's what one of our members wrote us when she heard we're using Tauck:  "Interestingly enough, I first learned about Tauck from an ASGA playing partner at Championsgate Orlando who was very familiar with Tauck.  She told me 'You need to check out Tauck - - they are the best!'  She was right!  Our subsequent travels with them have included a Danube River cruise from Budapest to Prague. The service is top notch, so my advice for traveling?  Settle for MORE!"  (from an ASGA DC Member).

Testimonials from Tauck River Cruise Clients

"After taking the first one I was convinced.  Wasn't like we were being herded into a big banquet room having to eat the same thing at the same time.  It was like having a nice dinner with some friends you just met."

"I think there's always a surprise on every trip.  They've got something up their sleeve all the time to give you that special experience."

"We find with the Tauck trips you see things other people don't see.  They get you behind the scenes.  They make it easy for you."

*** THE RIVER CRUISE PLUS TWO OPTIONS ***

Sign-Up for the River Cruise Only (No additional days included)

Arrive at Airport or Train Station and Head Straight to River Cruise Ship

You're in Paris on September 11, 2018, either arriving at one of Paris' airports (Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly (ORY), by train, or already there.  Once arriving in Paris, Tauck will greet you at the airport or train station in Paris and bring you and your luggage directly to the ship.  If you get in too early, you may be able to board the ship but you may not be able to get access to your room, as they are preparing the rooms for arrivals later in the day.  So you're welcome to "hang out" in the ship's lounge until your room is ready, or take a short walk around town.  Dinner included this evening.  If you are already in Paris on your own, you'll need to be at the launch area of the ship early afternoon.  You will be provided instructions and directions from Tauck once you register with Tauck for this river cruise.

From this point until September 18, you will cruise the Seine River from Paris to the D-Day beaches at Normandy following the itinerary set by Tauck (see the green tab at left labeled "Itinerary".)

Add-On Option One:  Arrive Two Days Early (Sept. 9, 2018)

Two Days of Sightseeing Followed by the River Cruise

As the Earth rotates left, we fly right and when we do so, jet lag creeps into our bodies.  Typically, when we land in Europe, our body says it's time to go to bed but everyone else is going to work.  So we highly recommend getting to Europe earlier than the day the cruise ship actually departs and catch-up on some sleep!

When you arrive two days early, here's what will happen:

  • September 9, 2018 - A Tauck representative will greet you at the airport and bring you and your luggage to the Pullman Hotel (Eiffel Tower).  You will have an opportunity to rest before the champagne and dinner.  Here you'll have your first opportunity to mingle with other passengers cruising with you.  Today's your first night at the hotel.
  • September 10 - Breakfast followed by a (pick one/your choice) group tour of the Palace of Versailles MontMartre or The Louvre.  (Questions about these tours?  Ask your Tauck rep when making your reservation.)
  • September 11 - Breakfast followed by a (pick one/your choice) group tour of the Palace of Versailles MontMartre or The Louvre.  (Questions about these tours?  Ask your Tauck rep when making your reservation.)  Board ship at 4pm.  Ship departs early evening.  Dinner on ship.

From this point until September 18, you will cruise the Seine River from Paris to the D-Day beaches at Normandy following the itinerary set by Tauck (see the green tab at left labeled "Itinerary".)

Add-On Option Two:  Stay a few days beyond the river cruise and play golf

Two rounds of golf and some sightseeing.  We need to know if you're interested!

Stay in the heart of Paris, walking distance to everything.  Two nights / three days (most likely).  We are in the process of gathering information on the post-river cruise golf days.  We'd like to know if you're interested in this as an option.  If so, please email Tom Alsop.  Having a firm number of players will help plan the golf and itinerary for these extra days.

First Time River Cruising?

Many of us have never taken a river cruise.  Tauck would like to send you their river guide and additional information. Simply click here and sign-up for certain items that will give you a better idea of what river cruising is all about.

Dual Responsibilties

Although Tauck is the river cruise operator, ASGA will work with you if or when necessary to clarify matters, helping you find a cabin mate (roommate) and a variety of other group activities.  You pre-register with ASGA and then begin your contact with Tauck for payment arrangements and other details.

Tauck offers zero-interest installment payments for this cruise in September, 2018.  All payments go to Tauck except for a nominal fee of $49 charged by ASGA for administrative costs.

Trip Details Outlined at Green Tabs at Top Left

Take some time to review the information provided in the green tabs above left.  We will post at this location IN GREEN anytime there are changes or notifications that we want you to become aware of.

Update on the 2018 RYDER CUP and OPTIONAL GOLF IN FRANCE

RYDER CUP:  The dates of our river cruise are from September 9 or 11, ending September, 18, 2018.  The 2018 Ryder Cup dates are September 28-30.  Since this river cruise itinerary does not coincide with the 2018 Ryder Cup being held about 45 minutes outside of Paris, France at Le Golf National, it is not part of our post-itinerary as it is 10-days beyond our ship's return.  If you have the time, money and desire, you can stay the additional days in Europe and visit the Ryder Cup on your own.  Details on the 2018 Ryder Cup are here.

To register to get tickets on your own, go here.  (link added 4/29/17)

OPTIONAL GOLF:  In the early stages of planning this trip, we felt it was a possibility to connect the two events.  There may be some demand for golf in France before or after the river cruise.  We're looking to offer a few days after the cruise that you can opt to sign-up for and those days would include a couple of rounds of golf and some sightseeing, dinners, hotel, etc.  If you have an interest in playing golf while in France, email Tom Alsop indicating such.  If enough people want to stay the additional days, we'll put something together.

Emails/Updates

We will post under this tab any group emails we have sent out.  We do this because we know some people do not check email regularly, or travel or the email may have entered a spam box.  So check back to this site if you believe you might have missed something, or if you've signed-up after other emails have gone out.  We want to keep you updated.

April 28, 2018 - First Email Announcing Event

Subject:   Singles Golf's European River Cruise Website Up & Running (ASGA News Flash!)
From    American Singles Golf Association

Hi Guys -

For the last 2 months, I've been working to put together the river cruise.  THE WEBSITE IS NOW UP AND RUNNING!

www.SinglesGolf.com/RiverCruise

ITINERARY: Details on the site but this is called the "Rendezvous on the Seine," which leaves Paris and heads northwest towards the D-Day Beaches of Normandy
ITINERARY VIDEO:  www.SinglesGolf.com/RiverCruiseVideo     -    Great video  - -  shows you what this cruise is all about
DATES:  Arrive Sept. 9 or 11, 2018 (website options explains the difference in arrival dates).  Event lasts 7-10 days, and possibly more with extra days for golf.
CAPACITY:  Ship has 49 cabins.  About 75 members have indicated they're willing to put down a deposit immediately and that will help us!
COST:  When you see the ASGA price vs. what non-members have to pay, you'll be impressed.  21-23 meals, wine, beer, liquor are also included.
GOAL:  Our goal is to SELL-OUT the ship - - that is, to fill all rooms with ASGA members only.  If that happens, we all enjoy a better price by chartering the ship on our own.

Before you get to that site, please read a few points:

1) Yes, we were originally thinking we could tie the river cruise to coincide with the 2018 Ryder Cup.  Can't do that.  River cruise ends about 10 days before the Ryder Cup begins.

2) We will offer golf and some extra days at the end of the river cruise but I need to know who in interested.  Thinking 2 rounds over 3 night.  Once you're in Europe and if you have the time and money, you might want to head to the Ryder Cup which runs Sept. 28 - 30, 2018 - - but on your own.

3) I have sent the website link to a few members ahead of time to get their input, any area of concern and we all seem to be onboard with the offer.

4)  ASGA is hosting this event but Tauck is the cruise company we will utilize.  If you have gone through the website in its entirety and have unanswered questions that you feel apply to many others on this cruise, please let me know and we can adjust our message on the site.  Any changes to the website from this point on will be in GREEN INK - - although we don't really use ink.

5)  Normally, I send out a BREAKING NEWS on things like this but no time to put it together since today was our announced day to make the website public.

6)  Please take time to review all the links, costs, travel protection (important as Tauck does not offer refunds/cancellations as ASGA did on other events).

7)  The Category 7 cabins on the ship can accommodate THREE people if one is willing to use the sleeper couch or you guys work-out a rotation thing, flip a coin, etc.  The can reduce your outlay in a major way.

8)  Getting a roommate is key towards keeping your costs down.  Tauck is one of the top two leaders in this industry and they are out to impress.  I took this cruise last October and still think about it just about every day.

Many links on the website to discover so take your time and enjoy the weekend.  Tauck opens at 9am on Monday and you can register online as soon as you've decided.  Again, our goal is to SELL-OUT the ship - - that is, to fill all rooms with ASGA members only.  If that happens, we all enjoy a better price by chartering the ship on our own.

Our Ship

The MS Swiss Sapphire will be our designated ship.  For details on this vessel, go here.  Note, however, that if you want to view the newly renovated cabin layout diagram, with the larger rooms in Category 7, you'll have to click on the green tab at left (COST).

The ship has gone through a major renovation recently and has enlarged several cabins, thereby decreasing the total number of cabins from 59 to 49.  If each cabin were to accommodate two persons, we could have 98 passengers traveling with us.

You will see from the ship diagram that the largest cabins are 300 square feet.  All cabins on the ship can sleep two (2) persons, however, the Category 7 cabins can sleep three (3) as allowed by Tauck.  The third "bed" is actually a pull-out couch.  So if you are sharing a room and want to cut costs, this may be the way to go.  Contact Tauck if you have any questions about Category 7 rooms.

From the Tauck Website

Welcome Aboard

One of the 361-foot (110-meter) riverboats in Tauck's Destination Fleet, this newly redesigned riverboat debuts in 2017 with a new deck plan optimized for the utmost in spaciousness – with 70% of her cabins measuring 225 square feet or larger – and accommodating no more than 98 guests, while similar-sized riverboats average about 160. Guest amenities inside her 14 lush 300-square-foot Tauck Suites include brocade upholstery, roomy walk-in closets with built-in drawers, spacious marble bathrooms with separate showers, and two French balconies with floor-to-ceiling windows that open to idyllic riverscapes. She also sports twenty roomy 225-square-foot cabins, four 183-square-foot cabins and one 182 square-foot cabin, similarly furnished. Eight 150-square-foot cabins are cozy and comfortable, and are similar in décor and style to our larger suites. 85% have floor-to-ceiling windows with real French balconies that open on to a balcony in the fresh air; all have in-room movies, minibar, adjustable heating and cooling, private bathroom and shower with pampering toiletries. In addition to our main dining room, The Compass Rose, the ship also features Arthur's, a second dining venue offering casual fare.

Itinerary

From the Tauck website . . .

Your Parisian rhapsody... flows through the heart of the city of l’amour, meanders through painted landscapes and flowers with romance in seaside villages and exquisite gardens along the Seine on this Paris to Normandy river cruise aboard our MS Sapphire.

Impressions of France... rendered on canvas on an after-hours private visit to Musée du Louvre, quickly captured by street artists in Montmartre, gilded into a golden palace at Versailles, indulged during a château dinner, distilled into apple brandy and cider, carved into a clifftop castle, and floating in a Water Garden... linger long after you return home. Follow the Seine to coastal Normandy on a 10-day journey that’s sure to impress. Discover the art of Paris for two nights before a 7-night cruise to Rouen, Honfleur and Giverny, immortalized by Impressionist artists. Visit D-Day beaches, sample Calvados where it is made, dine at a private château and more before returning to Paris via riverboat.
